Working to Please God
“Work as if you were serving the LORD, not as if you were serving only men and women.”
Ephesians 6:7
What if everyone worked with God in mind? Suppose no one worked to satisfy self or please the bottom line but everyone worked to please God.
Many occupations would instantly cease: drug trafficking, thievery, prostitution, nightclub and casino management. Certain careers, by their nature, cannot please God. These would cease.
Certain behaviors would cease as well. If I’m repairing a car for God, I’m not going to overcharge his children. If I’m painting a wall for God, you think I’m going to use paint thinner?
Imagine if everyone worked for the audience of One. Every nurse, thoughtful. Every officer, careful. Every professor, insightful. Every salesperson, delightful. Every teacher, hopeful. Every lawyer, skillful.
Impossible? Not entirely. All we need is someone to start a worldwide revolution. Might as well be us. -Max Lucado.

How we do please God? What you do to make a living do it to bless his name. How? Do not complain when your boss asking you to do this/that. Do you job at your best! Though your boss didn't see all your things you are doing, but God sees you!

The 3 worst money moves you can make
On bugetting I would say, I am better than my hubby. I am not saying that I am the super hero, but I think most women (wives) are doing the same. Though how expert I am on hadling the money, many times I have to consider my husband opinion regarding money matters.
Sound financial advice doesn't change much from year to year. Bad money management ideas, however, seem to mutate and flourish with each passing season.
Borrowing against our home equity and retirement funds, for example, was once tough to do -- and generally understood as a bad idea. Today, financial services companies encourage us to do both. Lenders also urge us to stretch farther and farther to buy our homes, often to our peril.
The 3 worst money moves you can make
1. Use a home equity loan to pay off credit-card debt
2. Borrow from your 401(k)
3. Stretch to buy a house

Thai PM vows 'no showdown' as protesters dig in
This is one of the biggest news today. Protest! Protest! This protest get over? Well, maybe when those Government official stop corrupting. So sad, but this issue are all over the world. Who is the leader has the power!
Thailand's embattled prime minister vowed Thursday to end massive rallies against his rule without force -- raising the spectre of a prolonged siege of Bangkok's main government compound.
More than 10,000 protesters barricaded themselves in at Government House for a third day and formed human shields to protect their leaders from arrest in an effort to cripple Samak Sundaravej's administration and force him from office.
Apparently undeterred by mounting legal pressures for them to get out, protest leaders said they would camp out until Sunday at least, and constructed barriers of tyres and barbed wire to keep police out.
The prime minister, who has pledged to stay in power , said police would not storm the compound but authorities would instead wait for the protesters to give themselves up in an effort to avoid bloodshed.
"Foreign countries are monitoring and keeping a close watch and waiting for a showdown," Samak told reporters.
"There will be no showdown."
He said the siege of his main headquarters would not be allowed to drag on forever, but threw the ball into the court of the protest leaders.
"Whenever it ends, it ends -- it's up to them," he said. "I assign police to do this task without forcibly dispersing the rally."
Thai courts have ordered protesters to clear out of Government House immediately and issued arrest warrants for nine of the protest leaders , but the anti-Samak alliance remained defiant.
Sondhi Limthongkul, a media mogul and key leader of the People's Alliance for a showdown," Samak told reporters. Full Article here.

Air force rules out sabotage in Philippine crash
This is very sad, I don't know whome we can trust in the Government official. Whom we can rely the truth of imbestigation. A fatal military aircraft crash in the southern Philippines was likely due to human error or mechanical failure, the country's air force said Wednesday, ruling out sabotage. Only God knows everything that happen. Bless the heart of the victim's family.
The C-130 aircraft carrying nine people lost contact with air traffic controllers only 20 minutes after leaving the international airport on restive southern Mindanao island late Monday, the air force said.
Rescuers say the plane crashed into the sea. They have recovered a body and uniforms as well as the propeller from the 41-year-old Lockheed Martin aircraft.
Air Force chief Lieutenant General Pedrito Cadungog said investigators were looking at "material failure or pilot error" as the likely cause.
The aircraft had undergone "very strict security procedures" before taking off and a possibility of an attack or sabotage by Muslim separatist rebels was "very remote," he said.
Witnesses reporting hearing a loud explosion and seeing a ball of fire as the plane went down into the Gulf of Davao, he said.
Rescuers trawling the waters off Mindanao said there were no signs of life.
"Uniforms and combat boots, maps and records, and the cargo plane's propeller and debris, among others, have been found after the first rounds of search and rescue operations," the army said in a statement.
The C-130 was at about 5,000 feet (1,524 metres) when the pilots made their last call requesting clearance for a flight path, said Cadungog, who called the pilots seasoned airmen.
Cadungog on Tuesday went to Mactan Air Base in Cebu to meet with the families of those aboard.
Sonar equipment pinpointed the likely wreckage of the aircraft late Tuesday, lying in more than 600 feet of water some 2.5 nautical miles off the coast near Davao, said Captain Arnel Gonzales, head of the search and rescue team. God bless the family who left behind. I know it wasn't easy but it's time to move on.

The Christ of Your Mondays
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”Philippians 4:13 NKJV
Stand and consider:
The Hubble Space Telescope sends back infrared images of faint galaxies that are perhaps twelve billion light-years away (twelve billion times six trillion miles).
Astronomers venture a feeble estimate that the number of stars in the universe equals the number of grains of sand on all the beaches of the world.
The star Betelgeuse has a diameter of 100 million miles, which is larger than the earth’s orbit around the sun.
Why the immensity? Why such vast, unmeasured, unexplored, “unused” space? So that you and I, freshly stunned, could be stirred by this resolve: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The Christ of the galaxies is the Christ of your Mondays. - Max Lucado.

Phentermine
I encouraged myself to start taking walks again, and I started today. I have a little difficulty on motivating myself back into exercising, especially if I’ve missed one day of our daily routine. In science studies they have developed diet pills as one of the choices of alternatives in losing weight. One of these pills is called Phentermine. Phentermine is a drug under the amphetamine and phenethylamine class. It itself is not an amphetamine. Phentermine, like many other prescription drugs, is a centrally acting drug. This means that it works in the brain by stimulating neuron bundles to release a particular group of neuotransmitters known as catecholamines. This pill is very effective, but like other drugs, Phentermine has side effects of having too much adrenaline and noradrenaline. Such side possible side effects are tachycardia (increased heart rate) and elevated blood pressure, but the incidence and magnitude of these appear to be less than with the amphetamines. It may also cause dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, restlessness, and insomnia. Before taking any drugs it is better to consult your Physician.

New HIV infections up 45 percent in Philippines
Can you believe that? How we resolve this problems about AIDS. I think since the first HIV's showed up there are more cases after all.
AIDS-related infections are rising rapidly in the Philippines although the ratio of those afflicted out of the total population remains low, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said Tuesday.
An average of 29 cases a month of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) have been reported in 2007 and 2008, compared with 20 cases a month in previous years, he told a news conference.
"Although the Philippines remains a low-prevalence country, it should not be a reason to be complacent as statistics and trends show that the number of those infected are on the rise," Duque said.
A health department report on AIDS in the country called for a focus on "prevention activities geared towards vulnerable populations and a scaled up response for making available affordable treatments and control interventions."
Duque said the main ingredients for a potential AIDS epidemic were present in the Philippines, with condom use among the highest-risk segments of the population of 90 million remaining "below the universal access target."
Just 48 percent of female sex workers, 27 percent of injecting drug users and 49 percent of men having sex with men or who have had sex with multiple partners, used a condom, according to the health department report.
While transmission through heterosexual contact fell to 139 last year from 193 in 2006, transmission from homosexual contact has risen 32 percent to 107 cases over the same period, while bisexual contact nearly tripled to 74 cases, the report said.
A total of 3,305 HIV cases have been reported since 1984 in the Philippines, where 310 people have died from AIDS, the report said.

'Subversive' Turkish TV series takes Arab world by storm
Despite being branded "subversive" and "anti-Islamic" by a top Saudi Muslim cleric, millions of viewers from Beirut to Algiers tune in up to three times a day to watch the Turkish-made soap opera, "Noor", dubbed into Arabic.
With his strawberry blond curls, blues eyes and engaging smile, Mohannad is setting the pulses of millions of Arab women racing in a television series critics claim is scandalising traditional Muslim values.
The series tells the story of Mohannad and his equally stunning wife Noor as they wrestle to reconcile the conflicting pressures of traditional and modern worlds.
"I love it because it is as glamorous as the foreign soap operas (American and Mexican) we sometimes watch," said Cairo resident Safaa Abdel Hadi, a self-confessed Noor addict.
"But at the same time the family in 'Noor' is Muslim and they have similar traditions and customs, so we relate to them much more," she added.
"They are a bit like us," said Lebanese Christian housewife Ibtissam Issa. "I really like their belief in tradition and their loyalty to the family."
Noor tells the story of a young mother who abandons her family home to start a new life with her baby and the story of another woman who becomes pregnant out of wedlock -- issues frowned upon in the conservative Arab world.
"We must not fool ourselves into thinking that because they are Muslim they are like us. The show reflects Western culture and problems, not our own," said 34-year-old Nadia Abdel Rahman of Egypt.
In order to protect the sensibilities of conservative Arab and Muslim viewers, the production company, Sama, which provides the voice-over, has deleted intimate scenes considered to be "inappropriate".
Nevertheless Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh, head of the country's highest religious authority, issued a fatwa against the series.
He branded it "subversive", "anti-Islamic" and decreed that any channel which broadcasts the series is "an enemy of God and his Prophet".
Ironically, the programme is aired by Saudi satellite channel MBC which last spring arranged a dinner banquet in Dubai in honour of the two main actors, prompting fans of the soap to go wild.
Producers Sama also won over a wider audience by using for the voice-overs everyday Arabic, rather than the more ceremonious classical version of the language.
A Syrian dialect, which appeals to viewers thanks to past popular television series, was used to dub Mohannad and Noor, known respectively in real life as Kivanc Tatlitug and Songul Oden.
Tatlitug has proved such a hit with female viewers that Arab television have carried reports of that a number of jealous husbands have filed for divorce from their wives.
Fatwa or not, "Noor-mania" is running riot.
From the souks of Tunis to the markets of east Jerusalem, T-shirts bearing pictures of the glamourous couple, Mohannad and Noor, are selling like hotcakes.
In the Israeli-occupied West Bank town of Nablus, several coffee shops have been renamed Noor and Mohannad in tribute to the soap's two lovebirds, who in the original Turkish show are called Gumus and Mehmet respectively.
"I sell more than 500 photos of the stars of 'Noor' each day, particularly ones of Mohannad. The girls are mad about him," said Hussein, a Syrian street vendor near Syria's Damascus University.
A travel agency in the northern Israeli town of Nazareth has even cashed in on the phenomenon by offering trips to Turkey, which include a visit to a mansion on the banks of the Bosphoros where the series is filmed.
"Noor" drew more viewers than the Beijing Olympics in Beirut, where cafe and restaurant owners have put up big television screens to ensure that their customers, and staff, can get their daily fix. Story here.

Madonna opens 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour in Britain
I am not Madonna fan but I was intrigue when I saw this article. Madonna kicked off her "Sticky And Sweet" world tour in Britain Saturday with a two-hour extravaganza of hits and high fashion which showed why she is still the queen of pop despite recently turning 50. That was amzing performance since she kinda little bit older. Still she's one of the best performer now a days.
The US star played hits including "Like A Prayer", "Into The Groove" and "Hung Up" at the giant Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on the first night of the 49-date tour.
The show, promoting her latest album "Hard Candy" which has hit number one in 27 countries, was watched by her British film director husband Guy Ritchie and three children and split into four sections.
To screams from fans, Madonna took the stage in a one-piece black sequinned outfit by French fashion house Givenchy for the first part, known as "pimp", a homage to gangster chic from the 1920s to now.
She then revisited New York in the early 1980s -- where she arrived aged 20 with just 35 dollars in her pocket before hitting the big time -- for the "old school" section of the show featuring songs including "Music" and a dance-off on stage.
Next came "gypsy", inspired by Romanian folk music and dance, and the finale, "rave", influenced by far eastern culture.
The show featured eight costume changes, 16 dancers, a 12-piece band and a million pounds (1.3 million euros, 1.9 million dollars) worth of Swarovski crystals.
The tour continues in Nice, southern France on August 26 before heading to the rest of Europe, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. It wraps up in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 18.
Madonna's last tour, 2006's "Confessions", was reportedly the top earning show ever by a female artist, grossing nearly 200 million dollars.
The star, who spends much of her time in Britain, celebrated her 50th birthday in low-key style on August 16.
Her eight-year marriage to Ritchie has come under heavy press scrutiny in recent months amid rumours they are about to split, denied by the singer's representatives.

I was out of town
Yesterday, I went down to Arkansas city with my sis-tin-law for our jewelry party. Well, it turned really good we have enough guest and make money. Actually our benefits are to get a free jewelry. Well, I only have 2 orders. I could find any interesting pair at that time. Whew! But, anyway I got what I want to get and I am very happy about it.
Shake Flashlight
I tell you what my father-in-law is crazy about collecting all kinds of lights. Wherever he goes he has a light with him. He wears a hat and there is a 3 led light clipped on the brim. When we were at the Red Lobster restaurant last week the waiter kept looking at my father-in-law's hat and tried to figure what was on it. Finally, he asked if that was a light on Dad's hat. I found this shake flashlight and was very amazed. I guess, we’re gonna get this for him for Christmas. The Shake LED Flashlight requires no batteries or wires, just shake to power! Absolutely amazing! Shake for one minute and you’ll get 30 minutes of continuous bright light from this LED flashlight. The unique transparent casing adds a touch of style to this eco-friendly emergency flashlight.
Best Cities for Diners
If you are visiting Little Rock, Ar do not miss out to and enjoy the comfort food at Moody's Diner. Am sure, you will love and enjoy it. And, satisfying food. With the reasonable prices too.
In this age of $40 entrees, cheap fast-food stores by the thousands and hunger for culinary novelties that can border on the ridiculous, do Americans still think enough of down-home diners to stave off the extinction of this fragile restaurant species?
Those who love them think so, given the place diners hold in our collective imagination. “People have periodically rediscovered that diners are interesting places,” says Richard Gutman, a diner historian and the curator of the Culinary Archives and Museum of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I.
The diner’s signature potential for both intimacy and anonymity never loses its appeal. On a diner’s counter stool, “you’re sitting 24 inches on center from the next person,” says Gutman, who wrote American Diner: Then and Now. “That closeness makes for a cozy atmosphere. But you can also sit alone at the end of the counter and no one will bother you.”
And even while diners place great value on nostalgia, they’ve always changed with the times. A shape-shifting phenomenon in the American cultural landscape since the late 19th century, diners began as horse- or human-powered “lunch wagons.” Around the turn of the century, diner manufacturers began bringing out prefabricated compact restaurants that were hauled to a distant site to serve home-style food for cheap, with an emphasis on breakfast.
In the 20th century, when certain railroad or trolley models became as obsolete as the transportation, some were opportunistically converted to diners. As American automobiles were tricked out with fins and big chrome in the 1950s, diners were shined up with many styles of stainless steel cladding and neon embellishments.
What will the future bring for diners? Most likely, some new mix of tradition and innovation. Rather than speculating further, let’s survey the current state of American diners by looking at a few examples in some of the best cities to find them. Source

The best Amusement Park in New Jersey

But, some of our friends said their vacation is not over yet. Are you looking forward to your next family beach vacation? Come and enjoy Morey's Piers. This is the largest amusement piers in the world! This is an awesome place. Suicide blasts kill 57 at Pakistan arms factory
Two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside Pakistan's main military arms factory Thursday, killing 57 people and piling new pressure on the shaky coalition government to tackle militancy.
The attackers struck almost simultaneously as a crowd of workers was streaming out of the huge factory complex in the northern town of Wah, near Islamabad. It is one of the country's most sensitive installations.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, the second to rock Pakistan since Pervez Musharraf resigned as president on Monday, and warned of further blasts if army operations near the Afghan border are not stopped.
"It's a massive attack," local police chief Nasir Durrani told AFP. "Two men apparently blew themselves up outside the factory during a shift change. The bombers were on foot and they exploded themselves less than a minute apart."
He said that 57 people were confirmed dead and around 70 wounded.
The charred body of a bearded man, believed to be one of the bombers, lay on the road outside one of the gates, an AFP journalist saw. A severed leg, abandoned shoes and several mangled bicycles were scattered nearby. continue reading here

Cyber attacks on Georgia launched from Russia: US firm
My husband was very concern about this. Everyday, I've seen him reading this news. I know this is a big topic but I want you to share and hear your opinions.
SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Intense cyber attacks on Georgian government websites were launched from computers in Russia while Moscow's military struck in the former Soviet state, a US Internet firm said Wednesday.
It was unclear the cyber assaults were orchestrated by the Russian government, organized crime, "hacktivists, or others.
Tulip Systems Inc executive Tom Burling told AFP that numbers identifying computers on the Internet show that machines in Russia were used to attack websites for Georgia's presidency and a major television network.
Tulip took over hosting for those websites on Saturday, a day after Russian forces poured into Georgia in response to Tbilisi's attacks on a Moscow-backed rebel province.
Burling said the distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks began in the weeks running up to the outbreak of the Russia-Georgia conflict and continued Tuesday after the Kremlin announced it had ceased hostilities in the former Soviet state. Full article here.

Divorce Lawyer
I heard a lot of married couple that end their marriage because of some reason. In fact, I have a friend who lives in Florida that said she and her husband are not living together right now, not because she wanted to leave her husband, but her husband decided to end their relationship as husband and wife. She loves her husband very much and she is very successful and loving, but he insists on going forward with his decision. I know that was a tough and very sensitive topic. My friend needs a good Divorce lawyer to take care of her case. Though I am NOT an advocate of divorce, I am actually very Anti-Divorce, but we live in a fallen world with fallen people and this sort of thing happens; such a sad and needless thing to be done. But if you are having the same problem as my friend or know a friend or family member who is going through this devastating situation, divorce attorneys Howard Iken, Brian Arrighi, Maurine Hill and Allison Belcher are here to help guide you through the legal side of this difficult time in your life. They have put together a website to provide you with complete information on Florida family law and divorce. Please take the time needed to thoroughly read all about divorce related issues. These people are good Divorce Lawyers and are willing to educate you on all the issues that you will be facing.
'Tropic Thunder' ends Batman's box-office reign
My husband and were invited by my sis-in-law to watch tha Batman movie on the theater but we said "no" into it. First reason, our friends told us that he didn't enjoy the movie. But sister-in-law loves it. Second, I am really into dark movie and my sis-in-law better not to dare to watch because it is really, really dark. It was a hit movie. I think I will watch the movie of Ben Stiller, lol.
Ben Stiller comedy "Tropic Thunder" dethroned Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" from the top spot at North American box offices this weekend, final figures showed Monday.
Stiller's movie-within-a-movie about a group of actors shooting a war film in the middle of a real-life conflict zone scooped 25.8 million dollars on its opening weekend, according to box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
That gave "Tropic Thunder" -- which also stars Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black -- five-day earnings of 36.8 million dollars.
It came after the film's premiere saw protests from disability activists who lambasted Stiller for repeated use of the word "retard" in the script. Stiller has defended the movie, insisting that it is a satire on Hollywood.
"Tropic Thunder's" success knocked "The Dark Knight" off of top spot after four weeks of dominance for director Christopher Nolan's superhero blockbuster.
But "The Dark Knight," which features Christian Bale as the caped crusader and Heath Ledger as his arch-villain Joker, earned another 16.4 million dollars, enough to take the film past "Star Wars" as the second highest-grossing movie of all time after 1997's "Titanic."
"The Dark Knight" has now raked in a cool 471 million dollars since opening in mid-July, but is still way off "Titanic's" mammoth all time record haul of 601 million.
Ironically, the milestone came on the same weekend as the animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" arrived in US theaters. The latest offering from George Lucas's moneyspinning franchise opened in third with 14.6 million dollars.
A new Hollywood remake of a cult Asian horror film "Mirrors", starring Kiefer Sutherland, was in fourth spot with 11.1 million.
In fifth place was the marijuana comedy "Pineapple Express", starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, which earned 9.8 million.
Critically panned action-adventure "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" was sixth with 8.2 million, ahead of Abba musical remake "Mamma Mia!", which earned 6 million dollars.
Rounding out the top 10 were "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" with 5.8 million, ahead of comedy "Step Brothers" with 4.8 million dollars.
Woody Allen's latest film, romantic comedy "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" was 10th with 3.7 million, although it was screened in fewer than 700 theaters nationwide. Full Story

Talking to my classmate
Right now I am talking to one of my high school classmate. She just gave birth to a little boy
name "Matthew Gabriel". Her baby is sleeping while we are talking and her camera is built-in to her laptop and she don't know how to adjust it. So, I guess better next time for me to have a glimpse to her new son.

Last week, I told my hubby that I wanted to have my own credit card, since here in U.S you can purchase just about anything with a credit card. I thought it be cool to have one of my own. I was asking him the other day what kind of credit card I need to get. He told me a few, but our decision wasn't finalized yet so we are still looking to see what the best credit card is for me. I am so looking forward to having my own credit card so that I can use it when I travel abroad.

When it seems there is no way
I know not only me feel this sometimes that life is very unfair. I'm a human and am not perfect. When I feel down and seems that I have no way out, God is so gracious to show me His way. He said " I am the way, the truth and the life, no man come to the Father except through me -John 14:6.

John Woo war epic sets new China box-office record: report
John Woo's epic "Red Cliff" has set a new box-office record for a Chinese film, state media reported Wednesday.
The film, which depicts war and turbulence in third-century China, raked in 302 million yuan (44 million dollars) in China after it opened on July 10, the Southern Metropolis Daily said.
The earnings overtook the previous record of 280 million yuan set by "Curse of the Golden Flower," directed by Olympic opening ceremony mastermind Zhang Yimou, the report said, citing producer China Film Group.
With its sequel due to debut in January, "Red Cliff" is expected to "create a new box-office miracle" and break the all-time domestic record of 360 million yuan earned by Hollywood blockbuster "Titanic," the newspaper said.
The two-part 80-million-dollar epic, starring Hong Kong star Tony Leung and Japan's Takeshi Kaneshiro, made headlines in June when a stuntman working on a battle scene died in a fire on set.
Woo, a Hong Kong film director and producer, rose to international prominence with "Face Off" starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage in 1997. He was also the director of "Mission: Impossible II" starring Tom Cruise.

A sad news
I called my brother the other day and I was shocked of the sad news that he said. That morning our aunt passed away. Kinda a little shocked because last Saturday was the funeral of our cousin. After 2 days, my aunt passed away. She had diabetic problem for a while but it seems she was doing great. When I talked to her daughter yesterday, my cousin told me that they admitted their mother in the hospital for 5 days before she died. How time flies so quick! My last glimpse of my aunt was during on my Philippine wedding and she was physically great at that time. But' who can ever tell the end our life, but, no one except the one who created us. Indeed, life is too short!

Olympics: Child singer revealed as fake
The latest most controversy, who really the real singer? I was sad to hear this story that Yang Peiyi was replaced by Lin Miaoke who mimed "Ode to the Motherland" as her face was "not suitable" for the Olympics opening ceremony. Photographs: AFP/ AP . This is a racist descrimation too. That was a very simple reason, besides they can dress her up ad put some make on her. Little kids are always cute no matter how they look like. But now, the truth reveals...article below.
When nine-year-old Lin Miaoke launched into Ode to the Motherland at the Olympic opening ceremony, she became an instant star.
"Tiny singer wins heart of nation," China Daily sighed; "Little girl sings, impresses the world," gushed another headline, perhaps in reference to Lin's appearance on the front of the New York Times. Countless articles lauded the girl in the red dress who "lent her voice" to the occasion.
But now it emerges that Lin was lent someone else's voice, following high-level discussions - which included a member of the Politburo - on the relative photogenicity of small children.
The recording to which Lin mouthed along on Friday was by the even younger Yang Peiyi. It seems that Yang's uneven teeth, while unremarkable in a seven-year-old, were considered potentially damaging to China's international image.
"This is in the national interest. It is the image of our national music, national culture. Especially the entrance of our national flag; this is an extremely important, extremely serious matter," Chen Qigang, the event's general music designer, explained to a Beijing radio station.
Chen said that director Zhang Yimou - who created the ceremony - had demanded a "very cute" child; a standard certainly met by Lin and, many would suggest, by Yang.
"We made the decision that the voice we would use was Yang Peiyi's. The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feelings, and expression.
"Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects. But in the aspect of voice, Yang Peiyi is flawless," he explained.
But at the last minute, officials decided a switch was needed, according to the translation by the China Digital Times website.
"We had been through several inspections - they were all very strict. When we rehearsed at the spot, there were spectators from various divisions, especially a leader from the Politburo, who gave us his opinion: It must change," said Chen.
"I think it is fair to both Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi. That is to say, we have a perfect voice, and a perfect image and representation - in our team's view - combined together."
It appears that Lin, already a veteran of TV adverts, may not have been aware that Yang's voice was used. Chen said they had recordings of both girls and their voices were fairly similar.
Yang appears to have taken the snub in her stride. Asked by a CCTV journalist whether she was sad to have missed the opening ceremony, she replied: "No, my voice was there."
Not everyone has reacted so calmly. "Adults may lie, but leave the kids out of it," one angry internet user wrote.
Her tutor, Wang Liping, wrote in her blog that Yang is cute and well-behaved, with a love for Peking opera.
"She doesn't like to show off. She's easygoing," she added. Yang's school could not be reached today.
The switch may reflect underlying cultural preferences as well as the incredible attention paid to Olympic preparations.
Research by Daniel Hamermesh, an economist at the University of Texas, has suggested that the "beauty premium" in parts of China is far more pronounced than in the west for women.
Dr Hamermesh's work shows that ugly people earn below the average income while beautiful people earn more. In Britain, attractive women enjoy a +1% premium. But in Shanghai, the figure was +10%.

Warm Milk
What's in warm milk? My hubby warmed a glass of milk for me an hour ago, hoping that could help me fall asleep. But' I think it wouldn't work for me...because my eyes are still wide-open and I'm awake. That's why, I turn my laptop on again and chatting with some friends back home. I don't like when insomia is attacking me. Argggggg!

Personal safety and security
There is a time for everything… a time to be born and a time to die. Ecclesiastes 3:1a & 3:2a. In fact, life is way too short. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” I am not saying that we should hope that we will die right now; when we Christ into our lives, there's an assurance that we will live with Him forever. But as long as we live we have to be careful and protect ourselves. What do you do to protect your life? Do you own a gun to protect yourself?
The Advanced M18 Taseris the ULTIMATE defense weapon. This Taser has an almost 100% effectiveness rating. It combines the injury reducing benefits of traditional stun technology with a quantum leap in stopping power via new Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) Technology. I am not very educated about weapons, but in police studies it is show that the new Advanced Taser has a higher instant incapacitation rate than a 9mm hand gun and it's NON-LETHAL! The M-Series tasers are the only less lethal weapons that will stop a focused, goal oriented subject from up to 15 ft away. This product is available at Planet Mace. The features include:
-Taser registration form
-2 cartridges
-instruction book
-carrying strap
-8 AA batteries required (sold separately)
-18oz unit weight
-Shoots probes up to 15 feet
-Works even through bullet-proof vests
-Lifetime Warranty
The Planet Mace product that attracted my interest was their Survival kit. My husband and I are thinking of going camping sometime and we need a survival kit in case of an emergency. We know that First Aid and Emergency Survival kits can be a lifesaving tool for any daily accident. First Aid kits allow victims to be treated quickly to prevent serious infections and increases the chance of survival for extreme injuries.

Games open on a Beijing high
Olympic games 2008 is one of the most awaited events of the year. That held in Beijing, China. I saw from pictures online and I was amused how China prepare their country for the said Olympic games. See the picture taken on the opening ceremony. I'm sure you love it too. Read the article below for the update of 2008 Beijin Summer Olympic Games.
BEIJING - On the eighth day of the eighth month of the eighth year of the millennium, China welcomed the world to the 29th Olympiad with a blockbuster opening ceremony that launched arguably the most anticipated and assuredly the most controversial Games in modern Olympic history.
Amid the roar of fireworks and elaborate tributes to China's 5,000-year-old civilization, athletes from 204 nations - of 205 - marched into Olympic Stadium, the steel-girded Birds' Nest, before dignitaries that included President Bush, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao. Only Brunei proved a no-show, failing Friday to register even one athlete.

First Look: Opening Ceremony
With a fireworks show sure to top any July 4th celebration and a celebration of its 5,000 year history, China welcomed the world. Take a peak at what's coming up tonight at the Beijing Games Opening Ceremony.

Through at least this one night in China's capital city, the Chinese authorities and the International Olympic Committee sought to put any controversy aside. The message that rang out before a sell-out crowd of about 91,000 souls in the stadium, that was televised to billions around Planet Earth, was one of idealism and recognition:
China had arrived on the world stage.
And had chosen as its coming-out party a sports festival.
"Beijing," declared International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge, speaking from a stage in the center of the stadium, surrounded by all the athletes, "you are a host to the present and a gateway to the future."
Through at least this one night in Beijing, spectacle ruled.
Li Ning, a stellar Chinese gymnast from the 1980s, lit the cauldron after skywalking across the stadium rim, his levitation supported by barely-visible wires that moments earlier had lifted him hundreds of feet up from the floor of the Birds' Nest.
Li won six medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games. In a turn seemingly emblematic of China as it is now, he has become a wildly successful businessman, his sports brand a mark as familiar here as Nike or adidas.
The cauldron lighting culminated a production that ran for more than four hours and that cost, according to reports, $300 million, more than a Hollywood blockbuster.
No surprise - one of the unmistakable messages of these 2008 Games is that China, home of 1.3 billion people, does it big when it undertakes a project, the government spending a reported $40 billion readying Beijing for the Olympics. The true figure is believed to be significantly higher.
The ceremony opened amid furious percussion by precisely 2,008 drummers, the beat seguing into a reading of a famous passage from the sayings of Confucius: "Welcome friends from afar."
Fireworks then roared north from Tiananmen Square in central Beijing the six miles to the Birds' Nest - ceremony organizers saying the concussions, one per second along a central Beijing north-south axis, were designed to evoke "footprints of history."
There followed acrobatics, music, "star men" who morphed into a blinking dove, a globe atop which crooned singer Sarah Brightman - and more, all of it climaxed by a fireworks spectacular over the stadium, the city, even the Great Wall..
