Our Christmas 2008

The unexpected sickness came to me on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I guess you know how does it feel. But that was alright I got enough rest. Because I wasn't feeling good I didn't feel like doing about anything to help for Christmas preparation.

It was a great day though. We had a party at my parents-in-law house on Christmas eve with some of our cousins. When they left that night we were excited to open our stocking gifts. What I got? I got a blinking socks, mom thought that was funny and other small Christmas presents. Then we went to bed after.

The next morning, was a day wherein we will open the Christmas presents under the tree. I was anxious to find out what I got. Because I was sick, I didn't make it to wake early like last year. My sister-in-law got up first and she didn't wake us up too. Instead, she cook breakfast for everybody. It was 8:30am when my hubby and I got up, we thought our family were waiting on us. But to our surprised our parents were still in bed. My hubby use his wistle key finder to wake them up. He openned their bedroom door and drop the key finder and wistle. They could not take the annoying noise so they got up, lol. We ate our breakfast before opening our Christmas presents. I like the family tradition that we have on Christmas day. I'll show you what I got next time!

Heroes At Home

This year, I realized how much I missed the Christmas holidays in the Philippines. I remember the loud volume of our neighbor’s radio in the morning playing Christmas songs. I remember the simple, fun family Christmas gatherings; we knew the living situation so we not worried about getting presents. In that way I grew up so that I never expected anything to from my parents, instead we were happy to have plenty of food to share with each other. That's why I was excited when I had my first Christmas experience here in the United States, because I got plenty of gifts last year and this year too. I’ve came to the point of understand what the true essence of Christmas really is. Are the gifts enough to have a ‘Merry Christmas’? Of course not, understanding the true essence of Christmas is knowing the purpose of the birth of our Savior (JESUS)! As John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Icy rain?

We have a little freezing and icy rain today. It wasn't bad like last week though but still slipery on the road. My hubby didn't go to work again today as his boss said so. Again, we were slowly getting up this morning. The weather affect so much of my blogging mode...I don't know if you have the same too but it make me lazy to work. Whew! Terrible, terrible situation...I made our hot coco and I am drinking it write now..feels great after all!

What is the greatest gift you have ever given or received? This question makes me think and ask myself what it is. I’ve received so many presents in the past. I know you have too. As I look back I found myself empty handed and in need. What kept me going? The answer is God! True, my life was given by the creator of the universe. I exist because of his sustaining grace and love. He gave me this life for me to take care of too. Isn't that right? It made me ponder this week when one my closest friends told me that her High School classmate recently passed away. I wonder what was wrong, because she was young and nice person. I met her a couple times when I was in Philippines. Besides, her family is well off and can afford her medication. She had heart complications. They flew her here to the United States and directly put her in ICU because of her condition. It was too late, after 5 hours she died.

Lisa's Birthday Yesterday

My hubby and I never thought about the upcoming birthday of his sister. As you know his sister rent two our our spare bedroom. We don't care she lives with us, she's cool man. Yesterday morning, I woke up like 7:30 am and remember her birthday when I heard her going back and forth at the wash room. I told my hubby that we should go in her bedroom and greet her. My hubby wrote down a check for her as our Birthday presents. Yeah check. Writing a check is easy than picking presents at the store,lol. We sang a crazy birthday song for her and teased her of getting old-hehehe... Just a brotherly,sisterly joke. They are like a little kid love to teased one another.

After church I was thinking it would be sweet if we will have a little party at home and invited our very close friend. When my hubby told her about our plan she resisted. so, we came up the idea to take her our for dinner. She picked the restaurant...we went to Lily's Dimsum thensome asian restaurant. Of course, they serve Asian food and were delicious.

Tired and Sleepy

Yesterday morning, my sister-in-law called me on the phone and told me her day planned. She had to work a little bit that morning then come home to pick. We planned to finish our Christmas shopping. Weel, sad to say after I took a shower I felt tired and sleepy. I don't want to go anywhere...the plan busted. I called her letting her know that I could not go with her anymore. She shopped and when she came home at noon and ate lunch we decided to head out and do our Christmas shopping. Thank God we finally done. We are in the wrapping stage now!

Christmas Party

This evening, we attended the Christmas party at our friend's house. Earlier my hubby supposed to call them and letting them know that we are not going. He got a bad headache. He is doing good when he got home so we head out and be at the party for awhile. After that, we continue our Christmas shopping again. We are almost done... yes, we are not completly done.

Keep the Fire going

Yesterday, my hubby didn't go for work because of the icy road. I started the fire and let to kept going until last night. So this morning, when I woke up I thought it would be cool if we have fire again. When I started the wind blew so hard and the smoke came into the house. I don't know what to do when the fire alarm rang so loud. Little Emma asked "what's that?". My hubby came to rescue...so glad it go off so quick. We still have the fire going until this time.

New Patio Door

Last week, we attended the Christmas party of the company where my hubby is employed. The venue was at the residence of the founder of eDocAmerica. They live in an older and ‘swanky’ neighborhood. Of course, the houses there are big and are of an older design. It’s so funny how we missed their house and rang the doorbell of their next door neighbors. The other guests and told us that the party was in the other house.

When we were outside, I really didn’t appreciate how beautiful their house was, but when we came in the door we were all amazed at how beautiful the inside was. Basically, they totally redesigned their house the way they wanted it to be and made it really great. I’ve never been skiing, but my hubby said their house was like a ski lodge. In fact they only put one bedroom downstairs since their children are all grown up and are either married or just out of the house. Icy day

See the road coated with an ice? It has been raining with ice since yesterday afternoon. My hubby had to get off work earlier because we drive through the bridge. Mostly the bridges get freeze quickly. It takes him an hour to get home yesterday because when he reach the bridge cars moving so slow. Here in Central Arkansas most of the schools, offices are close due of icy weather...to ensure to minimize the accident. I'm happy, my hubby is in the house with me today...lol.

Weekend Shopping

My parents-in-law came up last weekend with Ms. Waverland, our family friend and officemate of my mom-in-law. We went shopping all day, yes whole day. I was worn out and on one shop Dad and I stayed in the car and I slept their for couple of minutes. Dad was telling me he heard me snoring, yay. I was very tired because 2 nights before I didn't slept well. Anyway, we are pretty much done with our Christmas shopping. My hubby and I start wrapping our presents lastnight too.

Thinking about pulling my application form

A month ago, I filled out a student admission form for one of the schools here in Arkansas. I think it would be good for me to get another certificate here to get a better job. The school corresponded through the mail and wanted me to send my transcript, proof of residence and etc. My hubby helped me; he photocopied all the requirements and submitted them to the school. We waited for their confirmation of receiving my documents, but we never heard back from them. When my hubby called them the other day, they told him I needed to go to their office and talk to the counselor. We were thinking, they were not very accommodating. Our fear is that they will ignore me again in the future. Yes, we are thinking about pulling my application form. I am not saying I want their full attention, but just to bear with my needs. I want to know if I'm able to start the school this spring. Education is very helpful in the area of the future!

What Friends do? often times we heard the saying, no man is an Island. We can't live without somebody. Maybe true. I am a people person. I grew up in a big family. I had somebody to call friend since I was a little kid. I remember that everyday, I sneak out the house and be with my "bestfriend". What we did? We play over and over and we fight! That's normal to kids but we can't help it everytime we played there's a fight. As years passed by I learned and understand the meaning of friendship. A Dinner Date

We supposed to meet up with my mother-in-law lastnight. But, because they were in hurry they decided to leave Little rock before getting dark and stopped by at Pine Bluff for Dinner. My hubby decided to took me somewhere. We don't know where we were going but we kept driving until we got into the main road and look around the place to eat.

He thought that would be nice if we go and eat at Carino's italian restaurant. I ate some of their food when our church had caterings from their restaurant but I haven't inside ever since. My hubby and I ordered Shrimp crampi and calamaris. I didn't my share so I took home and save up for my lunch today. Their food are delicious!

Firewood Party

When our Pastor invited us for a firewood party at their house I was thinking what we are going to do? Burn the firewood my hubby said. That's it? Well, maybe they have some drinks and food to eat too. I almost back out thought it wouln't fun as the real party. My hubby insisted I have to go to find out. Only few of us came to the party. We fired the wood outside and surrounded it. We drank wine, eat crackers, cheese and we talked. Actually, it wasn't boring as I thought. I enjoyed and looking forward of another firewood party.

Deep Sleep

I was worried yesterday when I got because my body was tired. I didn't much that evening but thankfully last night I got the sleep that I need. I guess, eating green vegetables really helps for me. Well, I'm happy because today is Friday, weekend is coming. I need a break-lol.

Roller Coasters

When I was still in the Philippines my hubby called me through Skype. When I got here I used his Skype account to call my family and friends back home. Six months ago, I turned on my Skype and our friend James dialed our number. He was thinking my hubby was using the Skype; I answered his call and I passed it to my hubby. My hubby was telling him how he wished that he could have a roller coaster video to watch on our movie projector here at the house. James didn't say anything and we were surprised when we got a package the next day. It was the roller coaster movie. Of course, my hubby was very excited about it.

I haven't ridden any roller coasters and my hubby told me that when we get the chance we would both ride one; sounds like fun and a little scary. I have a fear of heights, but I defy my fear when I want to do something. I proved it to myself that I can conquer that fear when we went to Arkansas State Fair two months ago. I've seen on the internet the great Wildwood attractions and roller coasters located in New Jersey. I was curious about how big their roller coasters were over there. Lastnight, we showed the Veggietales movie "Josh and the Big wall" to our Cubbies. Actually, we only have two students who shown up and Ali was sick too. Her mommy came to pick her up. Emma (our friend's daughter) joined in our class since we only gonna watch some movie.

After the movie, we asked Daniel and Emma what they learned from the movie. It seems they really paid attention, because they told us what we saw. That was great! While we were preparing for our game time Daniel came to me and said "Ms Mimi, you look good on that pink shirt". I was tickled and flattered. I hugged him and give him sugar (kiss***). I said thank you, you are the sweetie pie. It's true, you look good on that pink shirt. Isn't that nice when the kids say some appreciation to us (adults)? They are honest and sincere when they commented something, lol.

Last year was my first winter experience. Everyday I looked forward to seeing snow. I was mad when I got up in the morning and only saw frost on our sidewalk and on the roof. I am invited

Four months ago, when we were having a jewelry show at my parents-in-laws place on the way, my sister-in-law, Theresa(our friend) and I stopped at Wal-mart. While I was standing and reading magazine at the magazine stand somebody called my attention. She asked me if I'm a filipino and I responded to her. We exchange phone numbers then later on we exchange emails.

We talked to the phone once in awhile and sometimes it takes us an hour. This Saturday, they have a "Filipino" party to one of the filipino house and she invited us (me and hubby). Yeah, we are going to attend their party. Hope I meet more friends there.

Thank God I feel better now

I'm one of those crazy Anime fans. I remember when I was home back in the Philippines and sat down with my younger nieces and nephew to watch Anime shows on TV. I was instantly hooked and enjoyed it so much. I also have watched some of the Naruto anime series. This is a famous anime series created in Japan. Uzumaki Naruto was sealed with the nine-tailed demon fox that attacked his ninja village of Konoha in his infancy. Infact, one of my hubby's friends son loves Naruto to this day. Tired of being sick

So annoying I keep wiping my nose...I got stuff running, flowing out. Yucky..! I felt my eyes still burning and tears drop from my eyes. I don't have fever but I colds bothering me. I blame it to the weather change. Pretty amazing how crazy this weather. Yesterday was very cold and today went up into 15 degrees high. Oh well, I hope I get enough rest and get heal soon. Tired of being sick.

Painting we love

When we went shopping at Greenville mall, Mississippi last friday my hubby and I found a beautiful Magnolia painting. We like it so much and we were thinking it would be perfect to hang on the top of our fireplace. We bought it and hoping that the size would fit.


Last Saturday evening when my hubby and I came home from our friend's house we pull off the painting at Lisa's (hubby sister) car. We both excited to hang on the top of our fireplace the length was perfect but the width was not. Our excitment shuttered, toink!. We have no option but to return the painting to the store and get another one that would fit. We search Kirkland store here in Little rock and we found two branch. We hopped and looked for painting after church yesterday and we found one that we like. It wasn't good as the magnolia painting we got but it works anyway. Yeah, we only brought that Magnolia painting all the way from Mississippi, lol. Anyway, because the new orchid painting we got cost less we got two more painting, they all look good in the house.

Head Stucked up

I got up this morning that my head stucked up and my nose hurt really bad. I wonder how it happen while I was sleeping lastnight. When my hubby woke up I told him how I feel and he said his head and nose does too. Arrgggg! It's annoying, I want to get back to bed and sleep.

I guess, the weather does all of this because my hubby asked his sister what she feel this morning and to our surprise she have what we feel too. Hers is more because she is coughing. Maybe the weather this year is colder than last year because it started getting cold early this November. Our weather went down below 30's already. Hope you all have a great day, today!
